I have 5 door Pajero 1st Gen, 4D56 non turbo engine.Engine is recently overhauled and running perfectly fine.On motorways I can easily reach 120km/h and my RPM is on 3.5But car never go beyond 120km/h (sometimes required for overtaking) someone suggested me to add differential with more teeth so it will achieve 130-140km/h Right now on heights like kalarkahar I can easily drive in 3rd-4th gear with 7 persons in Pajero. So my concern is upgrading differential will effect its power on heights? Secondly which differential should I put in for better drive on highways/motorways?One more option is adding its genuine Turbo, will it improve its top speed as well?
@Demonoid would have appropriate answers regarding Pajero
check your fuel pump and your clutch, your vehicle should be able to achieve 140, secondly, i would advise you to not go that fast on a 4d56, its not meant for such speeds, neither is the body of the first gen pajero
Fuel pump and clutch is perfect, overall drive was very smooth and under control on 120km/h. But yes safety first.
This engine tops off at 145. What size tires are you using
I am using, 265/70/15
Does it not go even downhill?
It goes but on very high rpm
3500 RPM is already pretty high for old Diesels. I am not sure if you can find a compatible Mitsubishi Differential with a different ratio. Maybe a Gen 3 Diff?
