“Riding Suzuki Bandit 400 is Very Exciting” – Owner’s Review

We are back with another owner’s review and today we are reviewing Suzuki Bandit 400, which is a modified bike. The owner bought it in 2020 and did some modifications, however, major modification was done in 2015. The bike’s name is GSF Suzuki Bandit, remained in production from 1989 to 1997 and this specific bike is first generation, built in 1989.

Engine

The bike has DOC 4-Cylinder 400cc engine with 16 valves, producing 59-60 horsepower. As it has 4 cylinders that is why the sound of this bike is very good. Also, the bike is liquid cool.

Price and Modifications 

The owner bought it in Rs5 lacs, however after additional expenses and some modifications, the total cost reached Rs6.5 lacs. As per the owner he installed new IRC Thailand tyres, gear position indicator, headlights, gear position temperature sensor, lever guards and CNC lever sets. “I was not satisfied with tank’s paint quality, so it got it painted with new stickers,” he added.

Fuel Average

The bike has Japanese OEM carburetors which are very reliable and their maintenance is very easy.  “Because of this, the bike is still giving me average of 15-16 kilometers/liter and he uses Hi-Octane” he said.

Maintenance Cost

The owner told us that he uses synthetic oil and get it changed after every 1,000 kilometers. “I also change its oil filter on every alternate oil change and both cost me around Rs3,500,” he said.

Furthermore, the mechanic of such oil bikes are also easily available, especially in cities like Lahore. “However, you need to get personally involved,” the owner told us.

Parts Availability 

As it is a Suzuki bike, hence, its parts are very easily available in the local market. “I bought new front light, rear light, and clutch wire very easily,” he stated. Meanwhile, you can easily import engine components like valves and seals from China.

Safety Features

As it is an old bike, it doesn’t have ABS and traction control. “But its braking is very good, given you have good tyres and its engine is mounted as stress member,” he said, adding that the engine has no rubber insulations and mounts.

Furthermore, the bike has dual disc brake and dual piston caliper at front, and single piston caliper disk brakes at rear.

Riding Experience

As per the owner, Suzuki Bandit 400 is not a beginner bike, mainly because of its 4-cylinder engine. “The bike is very indulging with strong adrenaline rush,” he said. He further said that overall handling is excellent and if get it fine tuned, you can even ride it on tracks.

As the bike handle has Clip-Ons, its handle is a bit heavy but the owner is completely satisfied with it.
