Automotive Development Policy 2016-21 is proving to be good for Pakistan’s local auto industry. At the end of last month, PakWheels.com reported that two new Chinese automakers are all set to enter into Pakistan and now another Chinese automaker namely Jinbei has introduced commercial and passenger minivans in Pakistan.
The company’s local collaborator is Zenith Automotive (Pvt) Ltd, which is responsible for the distribution and selling of vehicles across the country. It is imperative to mention here that all the vehicles which the company is selling are CBUs.

The vehicles which are introduced by the company are as follow:
- Jinbei X30
- Jinbei X30L
- Jinbei H1
- Jinbei H2
Jinbei H2:
The vehicle has two variants, one is powered by a 2.4L 4RB2 petrol engine, while the other is equipped with a 2.7L 3TZ gasoline engine. Moreover, it is also available in two seating capacity options, one is 15 seating capacity and the other is available with 16 seating capacity option.
Jinbei X30:
The 11-seater van is equipped with a 1.3L petrol engine.
Jinbei H1:
The pickup is available in 14 and 15 seat variants and is available with only one engine option and that is a 2.2L gasoline engine.
Jinbei X30L:
The X30L is an 11-seater minivan that houses 1.5L petrol engine.
Jinbei has almost 60 percent market share in minivan segment in China and is also importing vehicles globally. As mentioned above all vehicles introduced in Pakistan are CBUs; however, the company is planning to build a CKD assembly in Pakistan to assemble vehicles in the country. Let’s see how soon the company achieves its targets. Prices of these vehicles as of now has not been revealed by the company.
Aside from Jinbei launching new vehicles in Pakistan, South Korean automaker Kia has also launched its Grand Carnival in the country. The vehicle is equipped with 3.3-liter engine mated to a 6-speed auto transmission that produces 270 horsepower at 6,400 rpm and 318 Nm of torque at 5,200. Kia Grand Carnival is being offered at a starting price of PKR 3,999,000 for the standard version and PKR 4,799,000 for the Ex (high spec) version.
