Several members of the Afghan carjacking gang, including the leader Abdullah Afghani, Shiraz Fazal, Javed Khan, and Azam, were apprehended and sustained injuries during the incident. Reports have also informed that these suspects can be thieves who were involved in 150 car snatching incidents in Karachi.

The confessions

Abdullah Afghani, the injured leader of the gang, has provided vital information regarding their operations. It is believed that the accused were part of a highly organized carjacking syndicate engaged in various illegal activities, such as stealing auto parts.

Furthermore, SSP-AVLC Abdul Rahim Shirazi stated that the suspects have stolen and sold over 150 vehicles including high-roof minivans and popular sedan models. Afterwards, these stolen vehicles were sold to different buyers in Hub, Balochistan.

The suspects have also made confession of stealing and selling high-roof minivans valued at half a million rupees or more for only Rs. 70,000 to Rs. 100,000 whereas the sedans with the price tag of over Rs. 1.5 million were sold for approximately Rs120,000 or more.

Reports have further revealed that each member of the gang was compensated with an amount ranging from Rs15,000 to Rs20,000. Prominent buyers of the stolen vehicles included individuals named Hanif, Shakeel, Rafiullah Iqbal Khokar, and Rafiullah’s wife.

Azam, a resident of Ahsanabad, possessed remarkable expertise in unlocking cars, which facilitated the quick transportation of stolen vehicles to Hub within a remarkably short span of three hours. Astonishingly, the suspects were able to travel from Karachi to Hub without encountering any intervention or confrontation from law enforcement authorities.
