Today, Indus Motor Company (IMC) announced the discontinuation of one of the variants of its B-segment sedan, the Toyota Yaris. As per an official notification, the company announced that it will discontinue Toyota Yaris 1.3 CVT AERO on March 14, 2024.
“The allocations of Yaris 1.3 CVT AERO have been lapsed in the allocation system. Dealerships are requested to update their price lists and inform their sales teams accordingly,” the notification read. The company will soon share an update on existing orders of this variant.

IMC launched the AERO variant back in April 2023 with a few exterior upgrades, including:
- Aero Front Bumper Extension with unique Foglamp covers.
- Aero side skirts (L+H side).
- Aero Bumper Extension with black inlay.
- Aero Smart Rear Trunk Spoiler.
The price of the Yaris AERO 1.3 CVT was Rs. 5,199,000.
The company has not shared the reason for the discontinuation of the Yaris 1.3 AERO. However, considering the market situation, low sales can be the primary reason behind this decision. According to the latest PAMA report, Toyota Pakistan sales declined by 26%, selling 2,036 units last month compared to 2,762 vehicles in January 2024. The carmaker sold 1,759 units of Corolla and Yaris and 277 units of Fortuner and Hilux.
Production Shutdown
On March 7, IMC announced a 6-day production cut from March 6 to 11. And the reason behind the move was not new – same old – pervading low inventory (auto parts and other components) and challenges posed by the disrupted supply chain causing a significant disruption in its production operations.
This wasn’t the first instance of IMC grappling with inventory issues over the past year. The recurrent closures of its production plant underscore the severity of the situation, prompting concerns among industry experts.
Notably, auto sector experts and analysts highlighted the adverse implications of such shutdowns on the industry’s health and called for immediate government intervention.
