Lexus, the luxury vehicle division of Japanese Automaker Toyota, looks solid. The company released a new teaser image of its off-road SUV ‘Lexus GX’ confirming that it will be launched on June 8 in Austin, Texas. Earlier this month, Lexus teased two images of the vehicle flaunting the first look of the vehicle.

Preview?

The recent preview provides us with a clear view of the GX’s rear end and side profile, which exhibits certain similarities to the angular design of the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series. Nevertheless, there are noticeable distinctions, including the slightly smaller taillights that are linked together by an illuminated light bar and the side mirrors sporting a more square-shaped design.

Lexus hasn’t revealed the details following the current generation, but we can expect it to be a mid-sized SUV with third-row seats, using the GA-F version of the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA). Therefore, unlike TX, the GX may get perfect off-road capability.

Powertrain?

Underneath the bonnet, the U.S-spec GX may be equipped with a modified version of the 409-hp turbocharged 3.5 litre V6 powertrain offered in the LX. However, the Hybrid version can also be another option.

The GX’s development aligns with the simultaneous creation of a new iteration of the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado intended for non-U.S. markets. This arrangement mirrors the distribution strategy where the U.S. market receives the Lexus LX while other regions are offered the Toyota Land Cruiser, which shares similarities with the GX.

Furthermore, the GX lies between RX and LX. Mind you, GX is not the only vehicle Lexus is unveiling on June 8, all-new TX three is also another machine debuting on a similar date. Lexus will also launch the LBX as a luxurious variant of the Toyota Yaris Cross.
