The 1st Generation Range Rover Sport was introduced in 2005. The 1st Generation Range Rover Sport is a front engine four wheel drive mid-size luxury Sport utility vehicle (SUV). The 1st Generation Range Rover Sport chassis was actually based on the Land Rover Discovery. The 1st Generation Range Rover Sport featured a series of cosmetic and mechanical changes from the proper Range Rover most notably It being shorter, lower, featuring an ordinary rear tailgate and featuring a shorter wheelbase. The 1st Generation Range Rover Sport comes in 7 models 2.7 TDV6, 3.0 TDV6, 3.6 TDV6, 4.4 L V8, 5.0 L V8, 4.2 L V8 Supercharged and 5.0 L V8 Supercharged. It also comes in 3 different trim levels SE, HSE and Autobiography. Production of the Range Rover Sport 1st Generation lasted for 9 years and Range Rover brought the new generation in 2013. The Range Rover 1st Generation received a facelift in 2009 that introduced a series of cosmetic changes and the introduction of new engines. The price of the 1st Generation Range Rover Sport was competitive when compared to other models in the same class.

The exterior of the 1st Generation Range Rover Sport features a familiar but distinctive Range Rover design language. The front end houses rectangular LED headlights with circular inserts, a rectangular grille and a trapezium air intake on the large front bumper. The rear end houses the trapezium side swept LED taillights with circular inserts, a roof spoiler, and a standard case tailgate. The facelift variant of the Range Rover featured an updated design language.
