Well, onto the next at home project, and undoing all of desi ustaads jugaars.
I was taking the wheels off to repair some broken splash shields which had been hacked up by local mechanic ustaads. However, I also noticed the passenger side inner CV axle boot was ripped apart. Also a mechanic ustaad touched it so it was held in place by zipties rather than proper clamps.
So, I began disassembly and removed the axle. Found a replacement boot from Shakeel autos for 1200. Got a kharadiya to install that for me.
Now, back to installation and found more desi mechanic jugaars
1) Brake rotor dust shield, both bolt holes were broken apart. Someone tried gluing them but that didn't work. My father and I then brazed the pieces back on and added a third attachment point where it was previously broken off.
2) Brake pipe and abs wire holder is broke and just 'hanging'. Desi ustaad snapped all 3 bolts that hold it and the abs sensor to the hub. I was able to drill out the broken bolts and am currently reassembling with nut and bolts.
3) Out of the three bolts that hold the lower ball joint to the control arm, 2 were stripped by mechanic ustaad. One was so bad it had no threads left in the middle section of it. Ill post up a pic. What did Mr ustaad saahib do? Put the nut back on the bolt, and used a second nut (which mind you, wasn't even the correct thread pitch) and jammed it on from underneath. Granted it held, but I was not happy seeing that. New bolt and nut fixed that issue.
4) Splash shields have been hacked up. Going to be repairing those next.
5) Desi mechanic ustaad decided it would be okay to use silicone to glue the brake pad slider clips to the ear of the pad. Took that all out and cleaned up the silicone. Went to a tiny auto parts shop who saved old brake pad clips and backing plates. Made my own holder clip.
