Yes. National policies should be aimed at strengthening the local industry. But policy makers should also ensure protection of consumer rights. Likewise industrialists should be customer oriented and their efforts should be providing valued products to their customers in exchange for the hefty price tag of these locally assembled cars.
If I have spent around 4 million rupees on a 1.8 L sedan car, then I also expect and deserve a comfortable ride. If I am not satisfied with something as basic as the shocks, then why should I bother about 'Policy of deletion' and 'localization'? Where are my rights about which nobody is bothered?
Local industrialist is always raising hue and cry in search of incentives. They demand incentives, rebates and exemptions all the time. But there is no discussion about the customer demands, expectations, satisfaction etc. Believe me, for these car assemblers individual customer like you and me don't come anywhere in their equation of how they operate.
