Canberra Trip update:
Pros:
The overall experience was great, extremely comfortable drive, specially with the auto pilot. I am sure that the drive wouldn't have been any more comfortable with any of the cars that i Own or have previously owned. great sound system, very effective and chilly Aircon, Superb visibility, helped greatly by the panoramic/glass roof, awesome pickup and go for highway needs, generous storage space for all the luggage for such family trips. Supercharging time was perfectly aligned with the normal stopping breaks and lunch/dinner intervals
Cons:
Now to speak of a few cons, The total Super charging price for the round way trip was $130. If i compare it with the Honda Fit Hybrid which gave me 900km of mixed highway and city driving on 35 litres of fuel, it would have defiantly given me 1000km of freeway driving for sure. So the 2 tanks of fuel it would have required for the same trip, would have costed me $140. so the Tesla is not much cheaper than any Hybrid cars out there in terms of dollar value for fuel/charging.
The auto pilot had flaw which needs more refinement, i was driving in the left most lane and there was a police pull-over in the emergency lane where the police was standing with the car they pulled, the auto pilot detected that there are pedestrians who wants to cross the road and my car wanted to stop bang in the middle of a highway with a speed limit of 110km/h. It was scary, i was lucky there was no car behind me otherwise it could have been a collision.
