I know this machinist very well. I got the bearings for around 12k and this machinist told me to adjust all the bearings he's gonna charge 22k. I learnt what magic he's gonna do then I took it to a renowned machinist too and he said for head job plus crank Polish etc total job he's gonna charge 10k so I moved away from him and went to 10k guy.
Its not he's bad but such machinist who think they're kings they don't let you participate with the help of workshop manuals, and they're like sir humen na btayen and this thinking leads to catastrophic failures.
Mechanic has to be capable enough and one step ahead of machinist while verifying that did he followed the specs or deviated way below or above the actual readings.
Mostly the don't follow valve clearances properly, infact all clearances. So I've kept those machinist in loop who are okay if I tell them test data values and clearances range.
So I've done this in the very early days of mitsu's where I learned mitsu's are fond of spinning the bearings off the rods. You've to be very careful of oil pump. Now after doing this oil pressure should have been observed right at the first crank. But here endusers are like not interested in khuaari infact they're believing on fancy stories..
Now people have literally messed with us on mehran engines, claiming oh sir jee sound mazay ki nai halank everything on specs and torqued but in the market such mechanic exist who somehow satisfy the end users with below the belt low quality jobs. So I'm surprised few people don't even get satisfied even if engine is on spec and not taken for granted like everyone does in common market.
So this is shufff shuff sarkar playing a role here in mechanical fields too.
