Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) has released the bike sales reports of motorcycle manufacturing companies, and it looks promising for Yamaha and Suzuki. United Autos sales, however, are down.

According to PAMA, Yamaha Pakistan sold 2,271 bike units in Feb 2019 while in Jan 2019, it sold 1,675 bikes. It’s an increase of 36% on Month-on-Month basis. While on year-on-year, the sales are up by more than 51%. Other than Yamaha, Pak Suzuki sold 1,951 units in Feb, whereas it sold 1,874 bikes in Jan 2019. There is an increase of 4% in sales.

Car Sales Decline in February 2019, Says PAMA

Now coming to Atlas Honda, Pakistan’s biggest bike manufacturer, it sold 95,015 bikes in Feb and in Jan the company managed to sell 95,009 units. The data clearly shows that there is a little surge in sales, but, if we look at year-on-year, the sales are up by 12%. Aside from Honda, Suzuki and Yamaha, the second largest bike producer in the country, United Autos, is not doing very well in terms of sales; the company managed to sell 22,293 bikes in Feb down by 7,144 bikes compared to the previous month. In January, United Autos sold 29,437 bikes. There is a decrease of 24% in month-on-month sales.

Moving onwards, Ravi and DYL motorcycles sold 1,906 and 224 bike units respectively in February 2019. Moreover, the sales of locally manufactured cars fell by 13% in February 2019. In January 2019, a total of 19,353 units of passenger cars were sold, while in February 2019, only 17,071 units were sold.

Note here that despite an unstable economy and predictions of the auto industry not performing well in the coming year, the local bike industry is not only thriving but is going strong. Let’s wait and see how it performs in the coming months.
