Pakwheels.com has brought yet another comparison review for you and this time we have Toyota Hilux Revo and Isuzu D-Max. For years Toyota Hilux has been the only major pickup truck in Pakistan. However, recently, Isuzu D-Max has created some degree of competition for the Toyota Hilux. Both Isuzu and Toyota are renowned in making durable and reliable vehicles across the globe. However, the resale value of Toyota Hilux is better than that of the Isuzu D-Max

Exterior

The exterior design of the Toyota Hilux is futuristic, sleek, and bulky. Isuzu D-Max, on the other hand, has an aggressive exterior look with a lot of chrome elements added. The D-Max bears resemblance with the previous generation of Toyota Hilux. The headlights of both Hilux and D-Max have Daytime Running Lights (DRLs). The headlights of Hilux are much more complex when compared to those of the D-Max. This is because headlights of Hilux have bi-xenon lamps with a self-leveling feature. This feature helps in driving in the mountainous areas.

The Hilux has LED fog lamps while the D-Max comes with simple halogen fog lamps. Both trucks come fitted with 18-inch alloy rims. Hilux comes with Dunlop tires, and D-Max comes with Toyo tires. Moreover, both trucks have similar side skirts, and the rear end of both look similar. Some small differences include the different positioning of the brake lamps, and the rear bumper of the Hilux comes with a step to climb into the deck. This step is not present in the bumper of the D-Max. There is a small rear window that can be opened in the Hilux. The D-Max does not have this feature.

Interior

Comparing the interiors of these two trucks reveals that the interior of Hilux is more futuristic and modern compared to that of the Isuzu D-Max. Hilux has a two-tone leather, which gives it a premium look and feels. Isuzu D-Max has a single-tone leather which gives it a dark look. Hilux also has hand-woven steering and seating leather with chrome finishing in the dashboard. Toyota Hilux also has many different control buttons on the steering wheel, which is not the case in the D-Max. Isuzu D-Max does not have a cruise control feature that is present in the Toyota Hilux. Digital climate control is present in both trucks.

The rear seat comfort is better in the Toyota Hilux compared to the Isuzu D-Max. The location of the rear air conditioning vents is optimal in the Hilux. Isuzu D-Max comes with a surround sound system while the Hilux comes with a normal system. Hilux has a 220V charging dock that can be used to charge electronic devices like laptops. Wireless charging comes as an optional feature in the D-Max. Hilux has three airbags compared to the two airbags that come fitted with the D-Max. For traction purposes, Hilux comes with a diff lock, and the D-Max comes with LSD (Limited Slip Differential).

The Isuzu D-Max comes fitted with a 3.0L engine capable of producing 161hp. The Hilux houses a 2.8L engine under the hood which produces up to 175hp. The Toyota Hilux produces 450Nm of torque while the Isuzu D-Max produces 380Nm of torque. Looking at these figures, we can deduce that Toyota Hilux has a superior powertrain and better performance figures. The Hilux Revo comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission, and the D-Max comes with a 5-speed automatic transmission. Hilux also comes with two driving modes – eco and power modes which are not present in the Isuzu D-Max.
