Audi soon to sacrifice Audi TT for more EV’s!

Let’s face it the world is moving on to electric transportation, and along with it, there will be the sad demise of an internal combustion engine. With that said one big news comes from the four rings manufacturer that they will soon put down the Audi TT badge to rest and bring an E-TRON model as a replacement.

The Audi TT was launched almost 20 years back and is currently in its 3rd and last generation model. It was an all-rounder, compact and agile sports car which compete directly against the Porsche Cayman. Despite being a popular car for the younger audience, it couldn’t rack respectable sales and wasn’t exactly a global success either.

This could be a significant reason why Audi has finally decided to kill off this model as a whole. This strategy, however, comes as Audi’s plan to completely overhaul its line up in favor of electric E-TRON models. Plus Audi states that few models don’t make sense in their line up anyway now. This hint that Audi S3 could be a better more spacious alternative to Audi TT and we might never see a spiritual successor to TT after all, but that’s me speculating.

Audi CEO Bram Schot stated: “In the medium term, we want to have the strongest range of electric models among premium competitors.” The new strategy will consist of 20 full-electric vehicles in a 30-strong electrified lineup by 2025.

He further added that their Flagship luxury model (A8) might as well go full-electric. Audi back in 2017 gave us and all new model whereas the luxury sports car (R8) got a facelift last year. With such aggressive strategy of redoing the vehicles now and then mean Audi will probably have an all-new line up as soon as 2025 whereas the R8 might be facing a similar fate as of the Audi TT and get replaced by a more powerful electrified sports car like the ones, we see from Pininfarina and Rimac. Sounds cool enough to me.

The Audi TT also received some love for the model 2019 model year. The facelift got a bolder exterior design, a new seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, and more standard features. Audi will also be bringing out an updated TT RS with a few design tweaks whereas one final limited edition will also make debut in the Quantum Gray Edition. This is due to Audi embarking on a new digital internet sales initiative next month in conjunction with its dealers. Though there isn’t much information available on it yet, so stay tuned.
