An easy time to travel northern areas is from April to August. Depending on the area you are visiting. The best time is however May to July for visiting extreme areas such as Domail and Minimerg in Astore, katwaL lake in Haramosh, Rush lake in Nagar, or areas such a chepurson valley in Hunza, or Phander and Darkut valley in Gherzir. These are the places one must visit. Most tourists are not adventurous enough they just come by the Karakoram highway and go back without daring to visit the peripheral valleys.
For visiting peripheral areas with family or solo you generally need a good SUV as the road conditions are tough but full of adventure. People also bring their cars but damage them. Remember cars can easily make it to main areas like ghezir, phander, Astor, Hunza , Nager , Skardu but if you are an adventurous person you need an SUV to discover the real beauty Side areas like domail, minimerg, deosai, darkut, hooper, chupurson, Shandur, nalter and etc
An easy alternative for solo tourers or only boy groups is by bikes. Bikes can easily make it to most of the peripheral valleys and It’s the most adventurous and economical mean of exploring north.
The reason why May to July is the best season is because that’s the time when greenery is at its peak and this is the time when most different fruits are available.
People from Punjab mostly don’t like our food. Because locals mostly opt for healthy options with less spices and oils. But in main areas like Hunza, Nager, Gilgit and Gahkuch there are plenty of good restaurants where all sorts of Pakistani food is available.
